One month before the visit of the President of the Republic to Norway, the managing director of Norwegian Energy Partners (Norwep) was in Angola with a delegation of more than 20 companies to promote the technologies applied to reduce carbon emissions. In an interview with the newspaper Expansão, he analyzes the oil & gas sector in Africa. He warns about the opportunities that arise for Angola with the gas discoveries in Namibia.
Relationship between Norway and Angola
After the first business mission, a good relationship was created between Norwegian and local companies. Taking last year’s event as a starting point, many Norwegian companies got contracts with some operators. But not only with operators in Angola because many of these companies have representation in other African countries, and we have been doing business missions all over the globe. This year’s event resulted from the first contact made last year.
Industry / Energy Development
Africa is one of the continents where the demand and consumption of energy have room to grow. But it will not only be industrialization that will drive the energy market.
If you stand on the moon and look at the globe, you will notice that during the night, the tiniest lit spot on the globe is Africa, despite being one of the most populous continents in the world. This happens because there is less electricity.
